Living History
We're still working on the lineup for the 2015 show, but here's the groups that were at our 2014 show:
We have an amazing turn out of living history displays with over 60 groups and nearly a thousand reenactors depicting military life from many periods and nationalities. These historical re-enactors go to massive lengths to represent living history as accurately and authentically as possible and are always happy to answer your questions or demonstrate equipment so don't be afraid to ask! This is an almost unique opportunity to see how the soldiers of different nationalities and time periods lived, get close to the weapons, equipment and atmosphere of the time. Where else would you be able to get up close and personal to your past?
Spearfish Creek
Making a welcome return for the second year running are the members of the Spearfish Creek Wild West group.The members recreate a unique period of American history - Spearfish Creek was a booming mining town in South Dakota in the 1800s. Their aims are to educate and entertain the public in the history of the American West during the 19th century and their members recreate in fine detail, the life and times of the USA from the 1750s through to to the 1900.
They class themselves as one big family and welcome newcomers to the group, helping newbies all they can.
Heer Gruppe
Heer Gruppe are a German WW2 Re-enactment Group portraying a casualty clearing station of the 15th Panzer-Grenadier Division. They portray different theatres of War including Germany's struggle in Italy and the German breakout in the Ardennes. Heer Gruppe (which basically means Army Group in English) was born midway last year with only five original members. It was a splinter band of another German re-enactment group and was born solely due to the enthusiasm of its members who had a passion for history and whom wanted realism and variety. As well as Panzer Grenadiers, the group also have female members who portray DRK Nurses. We now have 12 members. We are an easy going group but who have an eye for detail and expect commitment and dedication. If you are interested in joining please contact us using the details below. Das Heer
Das Heer was formed in 2003 and represents the men of the 1.Gruppe, 2.Kompany, Infantry Regiment 27. Infantry Division 12. Our symbol is the charging bison. We believe Das Heer is unique in portraying the early war German soldier. Although we are a small group, members go to extraordinary lengths to achieve a high standard of authenticity and are subject to strict rules for behaviour, uniform and equipment. Members receive training in basic German, learn foot and rifle drill, tactics and weapon handling. Members are obliged to think carefully and produce a historically accurate profile, which is supported by correct paperwork and documents.
Guards at War
Guards at War 39-45 are a Living History Group that depicts and follows the history of the Guards Division during World War 2, from the BEF at Dunkirk, through North Africa, Italy and the invasion of North West Europe and on into Germany and Austria.
