Q: Can you tell me how much the Helicopter and/or Tank rides are?

A: We're very sorry, but these rides are provided by some of the exhibitors and as such we have not been made aware of the costs, we would therefore request that you check onsite with the exhibitors at the time of your attendance to confirm.

Q: What are the dates for the 2015 show?

A: Our show days are Saturday the 8th & Sunday the 9th of August, from 10am to 5pm daily.

Q: When does the carpark open?

A: The carpark opens at 9:30am.

Q: Is the show open this year on the Friday ?

We're sorry, but this year’s show is only open to the public on Saturday and Sunday. Friday is an exhibitors, stallholders and EHMVA member’s only event, attendees will need to be in possession of wristbands, which will be available from the Booking in Tent near the Exhibitors entrance. Our security team will be checking to ensure that only wristband holders remain on site. Those who do not possess the correct wristband will be asked to leave. Please be advised there are no events scheduled for Friday and there will be no arena or flying events.

Q: How do I get there?

A: Please refer to the 'How to get there' menu on our website.

Q: Are dogs allowed into the show?

A: Yes they are, they must be on a leash at all times. However please be aware there will be loud unexpected bangs and noises, also, there will be large vehicles and tanks movements so please ensure you take care.

Q: Can we stay after the site closes to the public?

A: We're sorry, but due to security reasons, the general public are not permitted on the site after 6pm. Our security team will be checking that people have the correct type of wristbands allowing them to stay on site.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: Please see our Purchase tickets section for our 2015 ticket prices.

Q: When can I buy tickets and where?

A: Tickets can be bought on the gate on the day.

Q: Can I pay with my credit/debit card at the gate?

A: the moment we are unable to take Credit or Debit cards except when you pay in advance - as such, we can only accept cash at the entrance gate.
We are working with our providers to accept Credit and Debit Card payments as quickly as possible and will update the website as soon as we have any news.

Q: Can I buy weekend tickets to attend both days?

A: Yes, we offer a range of weekend tickets covering entry for the Saturday and Sunday; (see our buy tickets page) You will be issued with a special wristband for re-admission. We are sorry however; the ticket is non-transferable and is only valid for the purchasers.

Q: Can the public camp overnight?

A: Sorry No. Unfortunately the airfield doesn't have the facilities for the public to camp overnight.

Q: Are there disabled facilities

A: Yes, we have dedicated disabled parking (blue badge must be present), and disabled toilets.

Q: Is the ground suitable for mobility vehicles?

A: Yes, the show event is mainly on grass and every effort is made to keep it as suitable as possible to allow mobility vehicles to use the site.

Q: Can I bring my own food and drink?

A: Yes there are areas where you can settle down and have a picnic - just mind the tanks!

Q: Are we allowed to have a BBQ?

A: Sorry we're afraid not. Due to the numbers of vintage vehicles and the large amounts of fuel they have to carry (a tank needs 4 gallons of fuel to drive a mile!) we try to do everything we can to minimise fire risk.

Q: Who are the Essex HMVA ?

A: Formed by historic military vehicle enthusiasts. The Essex Historic Military Vehicle Association was formed this year to continue the running of the MFM show and to assist in preserving our military heritage, an extension of the efforts that were previously done by the members of the Essex MVT. It is registered under the Charities Act 2011. No. 1155705.

It has a membership of over two hundred people with two hundred and fifty vehicles ranging from push bikes, jeeps and lorries through to artillery and tanks. Historic Military Vehicles are in much demand for fetes, shows, living history displays and film work. Our members vehicles date from WW1 and WW2 through to relatively modern examples such as Chieftain tanks. Visit our site for more information.
